The term 'home movie' assumes those making them have homes. Like dearly departed home-movie exile Jonas Mekas, the Fazilis make cinema to give place to their placelessness. Forced to leave Afghanistan & seek asylum in Europe, father, mother, & daughter shoot on cellphones to offer an intimate view on global migration. Somehow they also find time to poignantly critique their own roles & responsibilities as filmmakers.
