Reviewed a few moments ago and i keep the same emotion in face of this cinematic prodigy: rarely - and with this formal perception maybe just only with Ozu - a camera was at the same level of the characters and its fair actors, framing in the observable space the sensitive spatiality of the unobservable, which for convenience we call emotion, thereby assigning it a body and, accordingly, the corresponding soul.
If you have to see only one movie directed by Luigi Comencini, choose this one. A little marvel of emotion ! The last scene with the father and the son deserves to stay in the annals of Cinema. Masterpiece.
Beautiful with a sort of magical innocence to it. The aggressive sentimentality can be forgiven by the gorgeous cinematography and amazing acting by the two kids. Cannot hate a movie that makes me cry in the theatre.
