A Russian circus visits the US. A clown wants to defect, but doesn’t have the nerve. His saxophone playing friend however comes to the decision to defect in the middle of Bloomingdales. He is befriended by the black security guard and falls in love with the Italian immigrant who sells perfumes.

A film about integration. Life in Soviet Union is largely caricatured while life in the USA is more realistically described here. I understand that Paul Mazursky, by erasing every reference to an 'ideal American' from his film, wanted to make us see that America is an ever-growing melting pot. It simply didn't work for me. Already forgotten.
