While there are certainly spots in this film that predict future John Hughes defining moments, the film as a whole kind of falls flat. It's not boring or uneventful, but it's very obvious that this was one of Hughes' first screenplays as it lacked the sharpness and witty humor that pervaded later films with similar tone. It is moderately entertaining, and while hardcore fans will appreciate, it isn't for everyone.
