Our take

Time follows its own rules in Ricardo Benet’s remarkable debut. A gritty look at the hardships of laborers in a ramshackle community, News from Home may dish out shock and horror aplenty, but balances its blows with a moving and humane study of psychological breakdown and family dynamics.
