Ratings & Reviews

  1. FISCHER's rating of the film Night at the Crossroads

Pour notre part, on préfère le roman à son adaptation cinématographique... www.cinefiches.com

  2. Maudealan's rating of the film Night at the Crossroads

More like 3 1/2 because while the village and the dilapidated house full of curiousities and a tortoise and the female lead were great all of the gross "how many men have been in your bed" stuff got on my nerves.

  3. CarlosEsquives's rating of the film Night at the Crossroads

  4. joey Noodles's rating of the film Night at the Crossroads

Heavily imbued in mood, melancholy and an incredible atmosphere, this is an interesting Renoir, but ultimately a bit unsatisfying. The main problem is simply...the story. It's just very very weak, the characters aren't all that interesting either. Renoir's direction and that incredibly uncomfortable and somewhat claustrophobic atmosphere are 'fantastic, but everything else wilts a bit. 3/5

  5. Ally the Manic Listmaker's rating of the film Night at the Crossroads

  6. Black Irish's rating of the film Night at the Crossroads

Films like this are too beautiful to believe they exist.

  7. Jesse Furgurson's rating of the film Night at the Crossroads

Some of the editing is very striking/unnerving and straight out of 70s-era Rivette. And Winna Winifried FTW.

  8. Jake Cole's rating of the film Night at the Crossroads

Seems so unlike Renoir at first until you see his sense of satire and, yes, even humanism, at work in this noir deconstruction. The plot actually isn't that confusing, but Renoir's poetic abstraction breaks everything into fragments. Beautiful, vexing and brilliant.

  9. chanandre's rating of the film Night at the Crossroads

    [Cinémathèque PT #562: 35 mm] (2007)

  10. Mango's rating of the film Night at the Crossroads

Lots of fun. Especially Pierre. Atmospheric and sometimes bizarre, which seems to charm some and off-put others. I am of the first group.
