Solid corruption tale from director Erik Matti that will soon spawn a sequel. Tale of prisoners being used for political assassinations is well told but with a weaker subplot about a conflicted police detective who is caught between his vocational and familial duties. Performances vary in quality however.
Started strong but it didn't take long for the sizzle to fizzle. The plot is not all that complex but the way it's presented makes it seem far more convoluted than necessary. I had to check Wikipedia many times to figure out just what the hell was going on.
Anderson wasn't convincing here. He needs more training on how to curse properly and how to say 'Marlboro'. But overall, it's hard to figure how Matti was able to produce decent acting from a bunch of 'teleserye' actors. They all stepped up here. Joel Torre is just incredible. Finally, a Filipino action film with substance. It's been awhile since we had action films.
