Otar Iosseliani Soviet Union, 1972

Slowart's rating of the film Once Upon a Time There Was a Singing Blackbird

perfect example of an eastern bloc youth movie (black peter), the main traits of the genre are lyricism, coping with the absurdity/pointlessness of life and bitter aftertaste, this movie is also filled with beautiful music and is very georgian, lacking (thanks god) later iosseliani's annoying love for drunkards' talk and rivers of wine
