My first contact with venezuelan cinema could not have been better. Oriana is a sensitive and very intimate movie about memories of the past impregnated within the walls of an old house. Low budget but a very consistent work. It reminds me of Rachel de Queiroz's literature.
I feel like it’s a responsibility of mine to shoutout Venezuelans cinema, and “Oriana” happens to be a good film. It’s gorgeous, a gothic romance set in a remote Venezuelan hacienda. But I will admit it’s not always the most engaging.
