While the subject is extremely interesting, the film loses a bit of steam in the latter half. A fall into mediocrity is a lot harder to powerfully portray than a fall into disgrace, and the very nuts and bolt documentaristic style of Jeannie Finlay doesn't seem to quite do the work here.
Still worth a watch though, especially given how bizzare is its subject in the first place.
