It reminded me of a less inspiring nordic version of Sean Penn's "Into The Wild". The cinematography up in the mountains is wonderful - you can almost feel the fresh air and the cold water - but Martin's self-centered narration comes close to annoyance.
Even when it is kinda simplistic on its leitmotifs, this film is a complex and true work of art. The use of image as the core of its narrative and the use of voice as a leading resource are just fantastic and bring the narrative to a whole new level. This is a great example on how cleverness and delicacy can make the whole difference.
Written/directed/starring the same person, this scenario does not normally bode well for a successful film. This Ole Giæver comedic drama works surprisingly well. His character Martin's inner most thoughts and life status were both funny and real. A man going through mid life crisis? No, just life perceptions that most can relate to.
