The camerawork is occasionally knotty—maybe to try to make up for the rote nature of the writing. The overtly choreographed opening scene, for example, is a twirling, single-take roundelay of heavy-handed political maneuvering and camera prowess that sets all the movie’s conflicts into motion with a swift kick. There’s not much meaning behind it. But it makes the movie stand out.
