This is a nice and original film with some impressive long takes and other funny and/or unreal moments, but it suffers from a confusing script, or a weird editing (or both?) which makes the story sometimes difficult to grasp. Anyway I think it is worth watching and carries a good mood.
3.8 Somai's movies are like a hazy daydream you once had about 1980s Japanese cinema. There's always something magical about his work. Here, the scrappy long takes are mesmerising, the beautifully cinematic moments (mostly concerning fireworks, rain and soap bubbles) are dazzling and the flagrant disregard for actors safety is just bloody exciting. Slighter than some of his other work but great pop fun nethertheless.
