Unique characters and a rich eye on details make this family doll-movie among the better ones in it's genre. It is a film at least seen once by any kid or adult in a Norwegian family and the race at the end must be seen by any "Star Wars" fan as it seem almost ripped off by George Lucas for his "Phantom Menace" prequel. Only a long music/opera number in the middle drags down the pace.
The pinnacle of Norwegian filmmaking and stop motion magic that inspired the likes of George Lucas and his pod race sequence in Star Wars. The unique characters, relatable underdog story and gripping music all make up Caprinos' storytelling orchestra of wonderful details.
Seen by many as the "magnum opus" of film auteur and master puppeteer: Ivo Caprino, this stop motion flick is not only one of the best animated works ever to come out of Norway, but in my opinion probably one of the greatest films that have emerged from these cold, beautiful shores.
