I rather loathe this film for wasting 2 hours and 16 minutes of an otherwise decent night. If this movie hadn't done so well overseas due to the brand name that is Johnny Depp, producer Jerry Bruckheimer would probably be out of a job right now. Even if Gore Verbinski's Pirates sequels became increasingly convoluted, at least they had energy and a bit of grit. This is safe, boring, and devoid of any personality.
4th installment in the franchise takes the series back to its roots somewhat, eschewing the overly complicated, convoluted plot of the 3rd film for a more streamlined adventure. Harkens back to the fun of the original, but has way too many plot holes and shameless screenwriting shortcuts. Depp is still fun to watch, even if the film is woefully underdeveloped.
It's a movie I just saw. A lot of escaping, so apparently things happened. Characters talked, and there was a flying mermaid at least once. People died, and some maybe survived. I suppose we'll find out later.
Mais um perfeito caso em que as várias sequelas já começam a saturar a paciência do mais incrédulo, mas Jonhy Depp merece ser sempre destacado pelo papel que desempenha. Porém, o 3D aqui não vale nada e não é absolutamente necessário.
It was entertaining at times, but I couldn't help but think two things:
1) How much more STUPID this film is compared to the original three, and
2) How insignificant it is. Seriously. There's no reason to pay any amount of money to go see it.
