Ratings & Reviews

  1. Richmond Hill's rating of the film Pop Goes the Easel

A jut from BBC Monitor coloured by early Russell flourishes. The energy created by his camerawork and setting of idiosyncratic imagery with just the right music - here kitsch 1960s pop - is well in evidence. In some ways these short pieces are the best showcase - if not constraint - for Russell's ballooning exuberance setting a time limit and frame lacking in later works such as Lisztomania.

  2. herb shellenberger's rating of the film Pop Goes the Easel

Showed this in April at International House Philadelphia with Derek Boshier in attendance! Amazing film.
