Professor Marston & the Wonder WomenDirected byAngela Robinson
This is a brilliant film that perfectly captures a complex story and gives a lot of insight into human sexuality and emotions and how art can be a therapeutic reflection of ourselves and serve as a strong voice to educate people on the ways of the world and how things should be all while battling those who oppose it merely because they fear what they don't understand.
An intellectual soap-opera I found myself unapologetically invested in from the opening minutes. Destined to be ignored in theaters only to go on to be unearthed and supported by many, "Professor Marston & the Wonder Women" is a sturdy, detail-oriented biopic about the sexuality and psychological roots of the most iconic female superhero. Rebecca Hall gives one of the best performances of the year to boot.
Great!!! And it just makes the super heroine movie seem mild, harmless and out of sync with today's politics. Sadly, today's Wonder Woman seems tame. To reduce her to "finally[?] a female super heroine lead" is almost heartbreaking. There is so much more about gender and sexuality and roles and feminism that could be dealt with.
Can't help it, I already hate that type of psychological crap anyway. The choice of underlining the Professor only, and not his wife, said it all. It's basically a Freudian Paradise for dear old boy.
Incredible true story about a man that would've been lost without these two amazing women by his side. This is what girl power and embracing feminism truly looks like.
Professor Marston & The Wonderwomen é tipo uma novela televisiva ancorada em acontecimentos reais para afirmar o ~amor~. Parecia clichê no decorrer do filme, mas no final fiquei bem feliz com o resultado.
A great movie about the life of Professor Marston. Director Angela Robinson succeed to show how great Professor Marston was as a genius and his life as an ondinary man. PROFESSOR MARSTON & THE WONDER WOMEN also tells about the two women in his life who led him made a Wonder Woman comicbook. Somehow, I always feel this movie is about feminism. Maybe because the way Marston glorified his women...
