Beautiful, interesting, incredible cinema.
Mother and daughter thieves, Peneglote and Polylope, are commissioned to steal the Penelope, the latest 35mm camera from Aaton—the firm set up by legendary movie camera inventor, Jean-Pierre Beauviala. On their quest, the duo speak an imaginary language and accumulate Freudian slips.
Based on an unfinished script by Luc Moullet, this wildly innovative hybrid doc explores the infamous inventor of Aaton movie cameras, so beloved of the Nouvelle Vague. Director Isabelle Prim uses this as a jumping-off point for exploring the wonders of cinematic innovation from analogue to digital.
