This story is epic, but it exists in such a larger context. So many of these characters have amazing back stories. It's just one battle in a 100 year struggle. The TV series which came a year later is comparable to 'Game of Thrones' in it's vision.
you're either born as a Chinese speaking person (or a Vietnamese as in my case) to be able to truly understand the glorious history (and the beauty of language) that this movie was based on. otherwise, you'd watch it as another blockbuster war movie for fun. I still hope someone out there can appreciate this movie not just because of the visuals or the director or the famous cast.
Not quite as great as Part I due to a rather slow start and some goofy comedic flourishes I could have done without (yeah I know its a Chinese thing) but the epic and fiery climax makes up for that big time.
