Critics reviews

The goofy comedy of the film doesn’t really work, Liu is charming enough but he isn’t the comic genius of his contemporaries Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung. But the semi-serious tone of the film is a perfect fit for Lau, who is at his best somewhere in-between the gothic seriousness of Chang Cheh and the anarchic lunacy of Hung, Chan, and Yuen Woo-ping.
