Franklin's narrative pulse is stylish, and careful in execution, but If the plot was tighter, without losing its north/credibility -especially around the finale- the film would had been a lot better. Underrated Stacy Keach brings a lot of charisma and bravado to his part.
Pretty ingenious thriller has accurately been described as 'Rear Window' on the highway. Stacey Keach is a lot of fun in the lead - in a story full of genuine suspense, desolate Outback atmosphere, and offbeat humor. An obscure gem that deserves to be better known.
If REAR WINDOW and FRENZY got in a nasty highway pile-up after playing Chicken with Spielberg's DUEL, this would be the twisted accident-scene. Nobody wins except the rubbernecking audience.
