Based on Alexis Kivi’s 1870 novel, with the same title. It follows the lives of the seven Jukola brothers, over several years. It also depicts many typical scenes from Finnish cultural e.g. the sauna. The events take place during the mid-19th century in southern Häme, in southcentral Finland.
