A striking DIY feature with shades of Antonioni, Ashish Avikunthak’s debut is a playful and unnerving study in subjectivity and unreliable narration. With its meticulous tableaux and uncanny sound design, Shadows Formless marked the arrival of a prodigious talent in experimental Bengali cinema.
