This is a solid sequel that delivers on the action and thrills that made the first one great while taking it to a whole other level and allowing Richard Roundtree to be as badass as possible. Also that ending chase sequence is incredible.
Richard Roundtree is the definitive Shaft returning here for the second film. The atmosphere and streets still feel authentic and real, but Shaft is also more an action hero than a detective now as he have to battle against a helicopter and do slow-moving fighting. This sequel is not as fresh and cool as the original but I still had much fun though.
This has more of a exploitation feel than the famous original but we get more of a sense of how Shaft operates. The ending chase is surprisingly protracted, and the score is lively. Not a bad way to pass the time but also makes one wish they had done a proper story with a bigger budget.
