One night Singapore Sling finds himself in a mysterious villa, watching two women bury a body. He falls into their trap and, in an atmosphere of isolation and decadence, the trio act out insane pleasure games and a ritual of blood and murder.

Plotwise, Singapore Sling is to Sophrosyne what Hildegard von Bingen is to Bukowski's Women (in reversed order) but excess disregarding, it's marked by that self-contained, gratuitous, controlled and consummate showoff of sports events: it exists for no other reason than being able to, and don't let the "Telos" card concluding this bilingual movie cast an allegoric doubt: it stands for End and not a piddling Purpose.
I really wanted to like this. The house, wardrobe and decor are gorgeous and the noir lighting setups are incredible but the characters' mannerisms were annoying and the film tries way too hard to be shocking and 'morbidly funny.' Juraj Herz is much better at this kind of thing. Watch Morgiana or Nightmares instead.
After just one viewing, I'm going to give this film (and my gut) the benefit of the doubt, and call it excellent. It takes noir tropes like black and white cinematography, narration, a down and out detective, a femme fatale, etc., but presents them in overtly bizarre and extreme ways, so that no matter how used to the genre you are, this film will surprise you.
One of the greatest masterpieces of Greek Cinema (if not THE best Greek Film ever made). Singapore Sling is in equal measures poetic and vulgar, beautiful and pornographic, sensual and utterly mad. Truly one of a kind! (5/5)
Although wonderfully filmed, idiosyncratic and playing with genres in an interesting way, it is way too long, overplayed and boring pretty soon. Would have been much better for a 30 minute experimental short.
