Sunny is the pop singer of a mediocre band. They play in small towns, but Sunny feels out of touch with her life as a whole. She starts a relationship with a saxophonist, althoughhis obsession with death is not for her. After getting into a quarrel with a band member, she is thrown out of the group.

Set in underground East Berlin of the late 70s, this drama captures the era’s zeitgeist with the story of a young woman’s longing to break out as a singer and leave behind the frustrations of daily life. Directed by the underknown director Konrad Wolf, the film was a box-office hit upon its release.
