Our take
Electrified by adolescent ambivalence, irreverence, and daring, Kurdwin Ayub’s dynamic film thrusts the politics of the veil boldly into the spotlight. Streaking modern girlhood with instant fame’s glitter and rebellion’s risks, Sonne frees discourse around cultural appropriation to new, nervy ends.
