Such an inspiring true story, that it survives a movie built in a teen/family tone, like a Disney Channel product, or a Sunday afternoon movie. Bethany Hamilton is a an example of how a terrible life event can be overcome. And also of how sports are not limited to the stereotypes we have about the human body. Her relation to the sea, the fact she was not willing to give it up, is something we see in other stories*.
The incredible story of Bethany Hamilton is told beautifully in this film. This movie deserves more than these average ratings. Not all the great movies has to have drugs, sex, or emotional violence to make a good story. But some films are the greatest stories, because they are real.
