Ratings & Reviews

  1. msmichel's rating of the film Stranded in Canton

Strange yet honest capture of 1974 Memphis and New Orleans with people on the margins of society. Eggleston was one of the first to try the handheld approach and captures the people here without pretension or agenda, the local thieves and drug dealers, the masculine queen, the seniors with their dirtied and ripped clothing who still maintain their dignity, even his own young children. Film feels older than it is.

  2. Brotherdeacon's rating of the film Stranded in Canton

If you're not an alcoholic, drug addict, genetic miscreant, broke-dick motherfucker with Dixie in your veins and Eartha Kitt on your lips carrying a loaded revolver in your boot and a dentist's diploma from Vanderbilt on your wall, but wonder what it may be akin to; well, Egg gives you a glimpse with his Sony PortaPack on Infa-Red settings as he sucks up blues' blood and chicken heads from the negro streets at dawn.
