Ratings & Reviews

  1. Draughtsman Without Contract's rating of the film Sugar

In a similar way to Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy being a good film which isn't about espionage; this is a good film which isn't about baseball.

  2. Jeremy Ashlyn's rating of the film Sugar

  3. Seth Farmer's rating of the film Sugar

i almost saw this at sundance 08, or was it 07? looks like i missed out

  4. Robert W Peabody III's rating of the film Sugar

Sugar 2008 Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck Started slow and then faded. Most sports films have a message: work hard, be a team player, and make your own luck. This movies seems to say: be a narcissist, quit when things go wrong, and you will never have to be alone. In that regard, this is definitely an ode to post-modernism: dumb down & join a vast community of losers 0/10

  5. rowdyman's rating of the film Sugar

Intimate, authentic and understated. The complete opposite of the Natural or Field of Dreams. A lovely, personal tale of the 90% of people who don't make the big game but find new dreams.

  6. trawlerman's rating of the film Sugar

Best sports film of the last decade?

  7. Geronimo's rating of the film Sugar

Another remarcable film by the most talented couple of american filmmakers in years. We have a lot of really good things to come from them yet...

  8. Brad Owens's rating of the film Sugar

cool story, not the best acting, but good.

  9. Nikyatu's rating of the film Sugar

I loved it...it wasn't a sports film, that's where you go wrong, by perceiving the film as such. It was moreso a character study/coming of age piece that touched on isolation/immigration/racism. Beautiful naturalistic subtle piece<<<difficult to accomplish all of this and not produce a zzzzzzzz film. Ryan and Anna say themselves "this was not intended to be a sports film at all"...
