the visuals were stunning, its almost as if i was watching a japanese candy CM made by kubrick because at some point it looked pretty clockwork orange-esque (which is not a bad thing). casts, soundtracks & stories were just great, everything fits together perfectly. a beautiful wife that refuses to stay dead, a flamboyant magician, a killer that thinks he's some kind of jehova's witness. i really couldnt ask for more
Every once in a while I see a movie where the imagination and the visuals are on the same level, in cahoots if you will. This film is great and why we turn to other cultures to see different stories in a new light.
It's impossible for me to make it through this film without laughing... no matter how many times I watch it. The way this story is pieced together is fantastic. The visuals are pure eye candy. A unique experience.
The most interesting part is Ishigaki continually killing his wife and her coming back in powerful forms, you can watch that alone and it would be more interesting and cut down your watch time which is an overall long run time. Everything else is dull with the exception of Vinnie Jone's which is just bizarre, loosely connected with the 3 housebreakers being a pointless side story that could have been completely cut.
