Worth watching for Benni's performance alone, System Crasher nods it's head to the frenetic energy of Run Lola Run while aiming for a bit more of a Ken Loach approach. The film doesn't offer any answers which feels cinematically disappointing but that's exactly the point. 3.5 stars
Would we be much talking about the film if it was a young boy bringing chaos and violence around him ? But it’s a sweet girl and it changes our perception. It also made me think that it is made by a woman director. Would this have been another film if a man made it ? I can’t tell because i didn’t see a particular way to look at things here. It’s just emotions, all the time. And some suspect «poetry» here and there.
Beachtliches Debut!
Watching Systemsprenger I was both impressed and slightly bored. Impressed because I’ve never seen a 9-year-old act with such force and talent. Slightly bored because the film looks average and the story repeats the same thing over and over again (that IS the point, of course, but still). Yet again and again I was impressed by the young actress and the director who got her to perform like that.
