A spaceship launches from an unoccupied desert planet Ephestos but the head of the geology team captain Romanek has been left behind. He is low on oxygen and feels despair. Whilst trying to contact the ship he accidentally reaches a 7-year-old girl who is playing hide-and-seek on Earth.
