In August 1967, only a few months before Ernesto Guevara’s death, his rearguard was ambushed by the Bolivian armed forces and almost completely wiped out. Among the fallen guerrilleros was a woman whose identity was only discovered some months later: Tamara Bunke, citizen of Eastern Germany.
