How easily Jean-Paul Belmondo can stumble into a postcard adventure! This is like a live-action animation of the Tintin comics from my youth, carried by Belmondo using the film as his jungle gym and Francoise Dorleac sassing off and doing the rumba. There's only so long cartoon caprice can sustain itself without a plot twist, and the middle pushes it. But it's a matinee treat. Add a star if you're a precocious kid.
Very funny; my favorite gag is Belmondo pushing the guy in the wheelchair into the restrooms. It does slow down a bit too much in the middle and loses some of its ripsnorting flare as a result. However, it's always enjoyable. Belmondo is fantastic. It's a shame this movie isn't more well known; it's a very accessible solid story.
