Our take

A lightweight, oh-so modern affair from film pioneer D.W. Griffith, The Battle of the Sexes reveals the director’s shift from historical epics to appeal to a contemporary, urbane sensibility. Griffith evokes a resplendent new world of jazz clubs and love affairs, and the results are delightful!
