To me, as one outside this loop, The Brady Bunch Movie resembles nothing so much as a hate letter to America — a more extreme version of the assault on middle-class glibness and inertia found in W.C. Fields comedies of the 40s, but with one curious difference: the rebellious and bilious Fields character is no longer on-screen but out somewhere in the audience, railing against the show and all it represents.
