What are people saying?

  • Brotherdeacon's rating of the film The Bride from Hades

Not so much a ghost story of ghouls and macabre violence, but a love story with death. Lauded director Satsuo Yamamoto creates an ambiance of magical realms in which sex, greed, karma, lotus sutras, and yes, the hereafter all play a role. By turns dreamy yet tense, cartoonish yet profound, ugly yet gorgeous. A young Miyoko Akaza as Otsuyu is addictively attractive in her turn as a poster girl for the everafter.
