Perhaps Gallo's second greatest film. Yes he is playing himself, again! Yes art house starlet princess Sevigny gives a plentiful intimate bow at the climax! Who cares? Reminds me of when I did Reckless back in 35.

  6. gld48's rating of the film The Brown Bunny

Painful and hilarious. The self-loathing and loneliness of 'man.' Superlative. For me, this and Buffalo 66 are masterpieces.

The Brown Bunny is really quite a flaccid effort from Gallo but, to its credit, does at least hint to further meaning that isn't just a scapegoat to show unsimulated sex on screen. There's something it stirs up in you, but unfortunately, as Gallo seems only able to handle emotions with awkward superficiality, we never really get a handle on Bud Clay's apparent anguish until it's much too late.

Waiting all along for the final moment, one the most valuable waiting in my life. Breath taking!!!

  9. filmotrope's rating of the film The Brown Bunny

Almost silent and surprisingly tender, this is a sad and haunting portrait of a man with a broken heart and full of sorrow, and it evokes a constant feeling of melancholy and solitude, like with the songs that play along the film following the character's fragmented state of mind. http://www.filmotrope.com

  10. manufre's rating of the film The Brown Bunny

  11. ADZERTY's rating of the film The Brown Bunny

  13. Michael Zyx MH Claes's rating of the film The Brown Bunny

The 1st half is a soundtrack. The camera drifts along the roads of America, following the torments of GALLO. The 2nd half brings us to the heart of the subject, treated as explicitly as with sensitivity.

  14. SPQRNH's rating of the film The Brown Bunny

Ceci est bien une pipe. Et un film plutôt ennuyeux.

  15. Wee Hunk's rating of the film The Brown Bunny

If I had a nickel for every time Chloe makes a decision in a film or TV show that she regrets deeply I would have a lot of nickels. The BJ scene is what's known as a Brown Bunny, and it's important to the overall story, but I'm not sure it had to be real. Gallo's a bit of an arrogant jerk, and Chloe is perhaps a bit gullible.

  16. FISCHER's rating of the film The Brown Bunny

Dommage... www.cinefiches.com

  17. Denis Sedgwick's rating of the film The Brown Bunny

I was convinced by this, and I've always been a little unsure on Gallo. I love the soundtrack and the normcore elements, great casting too. I thought the layering of Gallo's flashbacks came together really well with the ending and gave the film added depth. I can understand how Ebert would have felt seeing the super long cut...

(3.5) This has to be the biggest troll movie ever created. Nothing worth mentioning happens for 80 minutes, but then the last 10 get totally explicit. It reminded me of those movies during teenage times who turned all moaning out of the blue, just as your parents stepped into the room. Other than that, the story quite touched me.

  23. raggiodisole's rating of the film The Brown Bunny

Save for the gratuitous hot ghost action, this was a well-considered and beautifully shot take on loss. Vincent Gallo was mostly not annoying
