An odd choice - cadaverous is the word for this property - for an unexpected director with an eccentrically assembled cast. Not entirely leaden, but akin to Paul Morrisey's foray into hoary old British cliches at this time (it misfires albeit more steadily than the aforementioned's Hound of the Baskervilles). I'm not sure of Metzger's motivations, but it lacks his usual smutty élan - Fust in the Must most certainly.
Even with the astoundingly gorgeous Olivia Hussey and Carol Lynley and good performances from Wendy Hiller and Honor Blackman, Radley Metzger couldn't make a go of a proper movie. He should have stuck to re-editing soft-core sex movies.
