Synopsis

Yoram, a 50-year-old veterinarian in Tel-Aviv, is forced to re-examine his relationship with his young daughter after she attempts suicide. He decides to take her on a journey to visit her mother’s family, a process of self and mutual discovery in a primordial desert land enveloping the Dead Sea.

Our take

We often find directorial debuts to be over-stylized films that yell their importance. Nimrod Eldar’s first film is a welcome change: From the use of locations to Zohar Meidan’s knockout performance, Eldar brings to this father-daughter drama an emotionally rich and beautifully subtle storytelling.
