  1. Z's rating of the film The Executioner's Song

Gary Gilmore's path was set in early childhood due to a violent and unstable home life. He never really had a chance and neither did his victims unfortunately. Tommy Lee Jones is absolutely chilling and pathetically sad as the sociopathic Gilmore, a man who for whom habitual criminalty became like a reflex. This excellent film portrays Gilmore with clear-eyed insight and stark realism. An unadorned, true crime tale.
