Set in 1918 Ontario, The Far Shore employs both melodramatic conventions and experimental formal strategies to tell the tale of Eulalie, a Quebecoise woman, and her love affair with Tom McLeod (a thinly veiled fictionalization of Canadian painter Tom Thomson).
