An exquisite short with resplendent baroque music and animated references to classical art, it depicts the Renaissance of hope, life and society, all three under the domination of authoritarianism, instrumental reason/bureaucracy and capitalist thrift. The fusion of classical and modernist art is put to effective use and the painterly composition extol art and the resilience of human spirit. Censored at the time.
