Even with exquisite Christian Dior costumes and a five star casting, this play adapted for the big screen doesn't manage to really make a case for itself. Donen won't take any risk and film to whole thing with a few long takes and little enthousiasm. Jean Simmons wasn't needed, thank you. Mitchum might have the best role. But it is, even with fairly good dialogues, a bit dated and old fashion. Forgettable.
