Like his Septic Man, Cook creates strong character relationships (the relationship between the two girls and their crisis of conscience is well done) and captures emotion sincerely, but really fumbles with the horror elements. As, like that prior film, The Hexecutioners is poorly paced, and is weak in scares and suspense. The fright tactics here are awkwardly done: feeling cliche, unearned, too slight, or unnatural.
