Simple & effective. Three stories: The 1st set in the summer of 1991 in two bordering villages in Yugoslavia; the 2nd & 3rd in the same place 10 & 20 years later. Except the same place doesn't really exist 10 & 20 years later. The 'same but not the same' motif is furthered by casting the same actors in each section, but driven home, tragically, by making it all about love. The effects of loss & pain on the soul. 3.5
Major issue is that the opening story is also the most intriguing, not necessarily the most profound. In the middle movie begins to drag and it never returns to the promising first act. Visuals of countryside are consisted to keep the eye of beholder pleased and final conclusion is something the goes beyond political subjects, but overall it's not as rewarding to be something more than forgetful somber drama.
"The High Sun" is a triptych of the Yugoslavian war and its aftermath. The same two actors play the lovers in each of the three episodes, highlighting the fact that in war these tragedies happen to everyone. In each case the lovers are from different sides; the first two episodes show the destruction on personal level, but the third ends up with the possibility of reconciliation.

confusing in a bad way; simply typical Serbian cinema. all film places around there write it like that- naturally and violently without making any special point. once again morality played bad and photographed good.
