Gandolfini vs Redford battle for moral leadership is one for the books. One spearheaded TV into entering its Golden Age the other was part of the dusk of the Classic film era (70's "renaissance" aside). Redford one this battle, but by the end of the 00s decade Gandolfini won the war and rose TV to the same level of Film maybe for good. Evokes the best of Eastwood & Ford's work. Respect is everything in a man's life.
Winner of the World Cinema grand prize at Sundance 2006, this atmospheric nail-biter, etched in stark, grisly black & white, is a triumph of diabolical filmmaking imagination, using the most minimal of tools to tighten the screws on the audience.
