After returning from a business trip in Finland, Bruno (Bruno Ganz) find that his wife Marianne (Edith Clever) wants her husband to leave her alone with their son. A struggle with loneliness and adapting to the new situation ensues.

1970's German New Wave. This one is very quiet and melancholy. I remember it being like that sometimes in the 70's, even in the city sometimes. Now it seems like the world has gotten much noisier, less melancholy but more angry.
Reviewing a film on digital when i first saw it on film, is to realize, again, the lower visual density when comparing formats. However, its magnificence persists: a film that show well how in the 70's cinema approached a stage of maturity that allowed it to be free from mimesis and composed of notes as some essayistic literature. With the best actors of the world, that as it's known, lived in Germany at that time.
