  • mpho3's rating of the film The Life and Crimes of Doris Payne

“I’m exceptionally proud of being the opposite of what is expected. I'm glad it was a Black woman." Why do I root for this anti-heroine? Because of her charm, wit, and a desire to empathize with the historical and socio-psycho contexts in which Payne herself presents her allegedly "victimless" exploits. I'm not afraid to give her props for doing the things she's done. Criminal, yes, but I root for her nonethless!
